Shoes
Shoes are not only articles of clothing worn of the feet of human beings – shoes are also a billion dollar industry, a telling sign of a person's style and inner qualities, and quite possibly the answer to life and all of its mysteries. (At least one would assume, given the amount of closet space shoes claim) Shoes are made out of various materials including leather, canvas and rubber. Like human beings, shoes have identifiable parts and even have a soul – er, sole. That is, an insole, which is the interior bottom of a shoe, and the outsole, which is the layer that meets with the ground. The bottom rear of a shoe is known as the heel and it may be low or high, to make a person look taller. In America, high heels are commonly identified with women, given that you rarely see men walking around in high heels, at least outside of Vegas. Finally, there is the vamp of the shoe that helps hold the shoe onto the foot.
Types Of Shoes
Dress shoes are appropriate for formal or semi-formal occasions and usually are made from supple leather and have a sleek sense of style. Casual shoes are wider and are often made out of non-leather outsoles and uppers. Men's shoes are categorized according to “closed lacing” style with a V-shaped slit to which laces are attacked and “open lacing” style with laces tied to two pieces that are attached to the vamp. There are also monk-straps which buckle and strap instead of lacing together, and shoes with plain toes, cap toes and wing-tips.
Women's shoes may be pumps, which are shoes with lower heels and a shorter vamp, which exposes the instep and is generally cooler and more comfortable than high heels. High heels are often worn to formal occasions and are thought to have more sex appeal. (Is that because guys like women who are tall and in pain?) Say what you will, red high heels can certainly get attention -- though whatever you might be saying is usually not heard. Red high heels are not to be confused with Christmas shoes. The Christmas shoes you find in stores or online are most likely red, white and green!
Other types of shoes include sandals, which hook by strap and great for warm weather. platform shoes, Moccasins, saddle shoes, loafers, sneakers for sportswear, comfort shoes, dance shoes, work shoes and boots. Boots are long shoes that can be worn in rainy weather or muddy surroundings, or simply boast a different look altogether. Boots may be made out of rubber, made for snow or hiking, or in the style of thigh high boots (which Nancy Sinatra says are made for walking all over you) or cowboy boots.

Popular shoe companies include DC Shoes, Ugg Boots, Jordan Shoes, Vans Shoes and Nike Shoes. Payless Shoes is also a major company in retail and for online shoe sales. One truth that you cannot deny, but possibly groan at, is that shopping for new shoes is no easy feat!
